Planning a wedding can be overwhelming, but one of the most fun parts is taking beautiful engagement and wedding photos. When it comes to picturesque locations, NSW has no shortage of stunning backdrops for capturing those magical moments. Whether you're after city views, beachside ambiance or a bit of both, NSW has something for every couple. To help you decide on the perfect location for your photos, I've put together a list of the 5 best spots to get engagement and wedding photos in NSW.

1. Milk Beach

Nestled in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, Milk Beach is a beautiful secluded spot with stunning views of the harbour. This is one of my absolute favourite spots to shoot wedding photos as there is a variety of backdrops in the one location. Starting at the top of the national park, there is beautiful greenery surrounding the footpaths on the walk down. After a short 4 minute walk you get to a stunning white heritage-listed mansion. The architecture of this mansion is very picturesque, allowing for a lot of photo opportunities. There are also a few different doors and frames that help you achieve that modern and elegant look. Right next to the mansion, there are 2 palm trees perfectly lined up, with the leaves meeting in the middle creating the perfect frame. After exploring the headland area, it's another 3 minute walk down to Milk Beach. On the top of the hill walking down you can already see a stunning view of the city. The harbour bridge and opera house are perfectly placed in the background. If you go at golden hour, this hill is the most beautiful place to shoot. The sun creeps through the trees and creates such a dreamy look. Once you get down to the beach, there are even more backdrops to shoot against. The beach, the rock pools and large brown rocks which once again creating a perfect frame. I highly recommend this location, it is definitely one of my favourite spots in Sydney.

2. Cahill's Lookout

This location is 1.5 hours out of Sydney but if you have the time, I highly recommend it. This is the perfect spot for pre wedding / engagement photos. You must go at golden hour for the best lighting as the sun sets directly over the valley. Just a 5 minute walk from the carpark you will find one of the best lookouts in the Blue Mountains offering panoramic views of the Jamison Valley, including the Three Sisters and Mount Solitary. It’s also a super easy track, even doable in heels! There are countless photo spots all along the track, with a variety of backdrops.

3. Shelly Beach, Sydney

Shelly Beach is a hidden gem on the Northern Beaches. It's a small beach with crystal clear water that offers a romantic and secluded setting for a beachside photo shoot. With clean waters, golden sands, greenery, and elegant rock formations, this serene location allows for a variety of photos. At sunset, the colours in the sky create the dreamiest photos, and make skin tones look super soft.

4. Nurragingy reserve

Nurragingy Reserve is a gorgeous open garden and parkland, located in Doonside, Western Sydney. It provides a natural setting for your wedding photography. The park features themed gardens, water fountains, and many other natural features that make for the perfect photo opportunities. You can capture candid moments all through this park as there are plenty of spots for picnicking and strolling. This is the perfect spot if you are after a more natural feel to your photos.

Centennial Parklands is one of the most stunning locations for wedding and engagement photography in Sydney. This vast park offers a variety of photographic options, including lush gardens, woodlands, open spaces, lakes, and ponds, making it a perfect location for a versatile photoshoot.
